Textbook Loan Program
Goal of the Textbook Loan Program:
To provide temporary student access to textbooks until it is feasible for students to purchase their own copy.
How the Textbook Loan program is supported:
The SJDC Bookstore provides a copy of some of the titles used in SJDC courses. (The Program provides many, but NOT all, textbooks.) Books have been provided through the years based on the generous support of the Associated Student Body Government, Publishers, and individual Faculty members. (Faculty may choose to bypass the Program, and provide copies directly to the Library. Please use the Reserve Room Intake Form and bring copies to the Circulation Desk).
Steps to add a textbook(s) to the Textbook Loan Program:
- Check GoCat (Library Catalog) to see if the title/edition is held already, or not.
- If the title/edition is not held, the Instructor notifies the Bookstore Manager that students need access to that title/edition.
- The Bookstore Manager determines if a copy is suppliable (based either on available funds OR a complimentary copy), and delivers this copy to the Library.
- The Library makes the item ready for library-use and provides access to students (only) at the Circulation desk.
The complete turnaround time for these steps, presuming that a copy of the book is available and can be supplied, is typically about 4 days or less.
